Lisa

My passion for health and wellness began with my dental hygiene career. I realized I could bring about positive change to the lives of others. The relationships that are built bring with it a level of trust between patient and practitioner. It is this passion for health and wellness, and building relationships, that brought me into the fitness industry. My journey began first as a group fitness instructor then into the Pilates world. I experienced how Pilates helped my back issues and muscular imbalances while giving an incredible sense of well being.
The Pilates Body started in 2012, helping our clients achieve their health and wellness goals. Our mission to improve the way you move and offer uncompromised personal service is driven by the passion of our talented team of trainers.

Viki

I have always had a passion for helping people feel better about themselves on the inside and out. This has taken me down many different paths and in 2010 I was ready to make some changes and decided to move my passion for movement and food from dabbling to a career.
When I was introduced to Pilates it was love at first “mat”. I was drawn to the flow, precision, strength, grace and results of Pilates. It was shortly after I started practicing that I knew I wanted to share this method with others. To reach optimal wellness we know that we need to move, breath and be nourished. It is my deepest desire to educate others on how to return to balance, reach optimal wellness, and prepare meals that will nourish themselves and anyone who sits at their table.
It is said that the meaning of life is to find your gift, the purpose of life is to give it away. I look forward to giving it to the clients of The Pilates Body.

Pilates has profoundly changed my life.  I discovered The Pilates Body studio almost 2 years ago while searching for a form of strength training that would compliment my physical therapy. Lisa and her team have helped me accelerate the development of the core strength and stability that I needed to truly have a new lease on life. The transformation I have experienced was so empowering that I knew Pilates would be a lifelong commitment that I also wanted to share with others. I recently completed STOTT’s Comprehesive Mat & Reformer training. I am excited to share this powerful form of exercise with you while I continue to pursue my full STOTT Certification.
For the past eighteen years, I have had the most rewarding opportunity of being our family’s life-style enhancement coordinator, a.k.a.  mom, for our three sons. I have enjoyed being actively involved in their schools, sports and activities! During this time, I also pursued my passion of photography. When I find a quiet moment, I enjoy knitting, gardening, reading, and walking with our dog.

Sarah Lee

Fitness is a passion of Sarah’s and has been for a very long time. She enjoyed playing several different sports growing up and continued on into college playing soccer for Iowa State University. After graduating from Iowa State University with a degree in Apparel Merchandising, she soon found herself sitting in a cubical daydreaming about promoting health/fitness to corporate employees. Shortly after working for a large corporation, Sarah decided to pursue her passion and received a B.S. in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota. In 2005, she started working as a Fitness Specialist in a hospital based employee wellness center working with a wide variety of fitness levels and special populations. These special populations, along with a personal back injury, led Sarah to becoming a certified STOTT Pilates Instructor in Mat and Reformer (essential/intermediate level), Stability Chair (essential/intermediate) and Injuries and Special Populations.
“I truly believe Pilates can transform your body and make you feel leaner, longer and stronger. Not only do you feel refreshed after a great workout, but carrying yourself in a whole new way. It’s an amazing feeling!”
Sarah enjoys staying home with her three young girls and still be able to work as a Pilates Instructor. Pilates has helped Sarah find her center and strength again as a Mom. “It is vital to take care of ourselves at all stages of our lives whether we are a new Mom, an active older adult or taking special care of an injury. Pilates brings our inner and outer strength together to make us whole again.”

If I had to tell you in three words what I hope that you get from me and my teaching style it would be, positive energy, kindness, and playfulness…..along with a safe, effective, and well-rounded workout.

At the age of 29 I ran my first half marathon and soon after had my wonderful baby boy.  As someone who had been active most of my life, I thought it would be no problem to “bounce back” post partum.  To my surprise this was not the case at all.  After some complications which left me couch-bound for most of my maternity leave I went back to work feeling defeated and unmotivated.

Thankfully I decided to take a leap and get my butt into a studio for some private Pilates sessions.  Two sessions in and I was signed up to meet with the Education Coordinator to get certified in STOTT Pilates so I could teach this saving grace for me, to other people.  For me, I was able to connect with my abdominals again, it improved my running skills as I gained better form, faster speed and a more efficient breath, it has helped me regain awareness of the body in general, and luckily I have found my passion for activity again with an understanding and appreciation for the body that was always there, but not ignited until now.  What I’ve found most amazing overall, besides the fact that everyone ISN’T doing this already, is that it truly is made for every BODY.  Every exercise can be progressed or regressed depending on the clients wants and needs.  Every person can have a tailor-made workout for their goals, which having worked in movement with children and seniors is more than just important, it’s necessary!

I heard about The Pilates Body from another Pilates student/friend of mine who highly recommended Lisa and her studio.  I am so indebted to this friend and feel so honored to be able to be a part of this team.  As anyone who has been here knows, the vibe here is great, the Instructors are knowledgeable, and they truly have helping others at the core of their practice, which is exactly what you want in a studio that you are trusting with your body, time, and money.

I am so excited to be here and I look forward to working with all of you!  Cheers to “Improving the way We Move!”

Nancy

My introduction to Pilates came three years ago. I was training for my first half-marathon, and a friend suggested I try Pilates to build stability in my hips and pelvis as I added distance. I took her advice, and was instantly hooked. The overall strength and stability I gained has made a world of difference in my running, and even more so in my daily life. It was so impactful for me that I enrolled in the STOTT comprehensive Mat and Reformer training at the beginning of 2018 and working towards Level 1 certification.
I have never been a gifted athlete or played competitive sports. As an adult I have played recreational sports throughout the years and loved walking, but I didn’t have a dedicated fitness routine. I was active but not athletic. In addition, seeing the challenges and declining quality of life that some of my family members faces as they aged, I decided to be more proactive about maintaining my health in order to live my fullest life going forward. Pilates has played a key role for me. My point is that Pilates is for EVERY body. You don’t have to be a serious athlete to feel the benefits of a stronger core, better balance and posture, and more flexibility. Whether your goal is to run a marathon, improve your golf game, or put on your own socks, Pilates will help you achieve it.
In my previous career I worked for a nonprofit organization that trains service dogs for individuals with physical disabilities. I love helping people to be active and stay independent, and I am eager to bring this experience forward to my Pilates training and to share the power of Pilates with you.
